Nyamyotsi Mini Hydropower Project – Stage I
Nyamyotsi hydropower project is located in the Rugera Sector on Nyadihu District in the Western Rwanda. Previously this province was called as the Ruhengeri Province. This project was identified by the team of UNIDO and local experts in the year 2004 and it was developed by UNIDIO, which is the funding agency.
The project development was tendered as “Construction and Commissioning of an Off-grid Village Mini Hydro’s in Rwanda on a Turnkey Basis” and ENCO (Private) Limited (Sri Lanka) was able to win the contract and started the construction in January 2006.
