Manakola Mini Hydro-power Project – 2.5 MW

This Project is an idea of Dr. Nanayakkara and his Engineering Team. This Power Plant is located in Hanguranketha DS Division in Nuwara Eliya District and the Water of Beliul Oya, which is a tributary of Mahaweli River, is used near Elamulla village in order to harness renewable energy.

This is a project carried out under the 100% supervision and guidelines of the Central Environmental Authority and the Department of Agrarian Development of Sri Lanka, under a complete Insurance of All Risk Policy, with no life damages.

Penstock Pipes tested according to the standards of “American Petroleum Institute” & supplied by “Lanzu International Limited – China” and high quality & Eco-friendly Electro-Mechanical Equipment manufactured by
“ZECO DE Zerbaro& Costa & C. Srl. – Italy” under European standards were used in this project.

Presently, Manakola Power Plant successfully operates from the date of its commissioning to the Ceylon Electricity Board on 20th October 2017.
